something i made real quick for the local mine. 3 rub rails.one with a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 angle welded on with angled end to help deflect any hard blows. material is 54" long x 6" x1" thick . hinges welded on one end for easy access. welded with dual shield wire. Attached Images
Reply:What do they do? Rub rails for a conveyor?I imagine it takes 3 men and a boy to lift one of those things.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:lol yeah they are heavy. the one with the angle goes on a continous mining machine's hydraulic tank. the two flat bars are for underground trams.
Reply:you think that would make ya cry try this. 13 feet and 3 inches at 16.20 a foot.
Reply:You could get it picked up but a little tricky to control. A lot of weight hangin' out six and a half feet either side.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:two are 53" and one is 54" a little easier to handle but you would'nt want to pack em to far.
Reply:Finally someone who's not afraid of putting a lot of filler in a weld. I really like how you attached the hinge barrels. I see too much stuff come with a tiny little "pretty" weld that really doesn't extend far back onto the plate, or completely fill the convex shape of the tubing. That ain't goin' anywhere.I have a few welds on this thing I'm currently making where I've joined 3/16, and 11ga sq. tubing, and I put the biggest ugliest cap on the flat welds as ya ever seen, but I know I'm good."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:i worked with a guy who called them coon scat welds. yeah anything concerning mining will always have big fat welds. lil pretty welds just won't hold up. |
