If I'm trying to mig or flux weld two pieces of sheetmetal (aprox.16 gauge) together and they have a 1/4 inch gap in some places, is this too far apart to be a strong enough weld?
Reply:yestry a butt weld or even better a lap weld.of course you dont say how strong strong enough is.....what is this doing?does the weld need to be continuous or could you afford to not weld the gaps?
Reply:Lay a piece of welding wire or rod on it to bridge the gap and then do a bunch of tack welds to fill the rest in.Sure, I can fix it... I got a welder!!! |
