Reply:Ok try 2 pieces 6x6 of 1/8 inch plate.  Green is a triangle that was cut by plasma cutter.  dark Black lines represent a T-joint weld.  Orange represents vertical T-joint welds.  Blue represents a lap joint weld.  You can do this with both ARC and MIG.  and it covers the basic positions.  To really challenge them make them make all the pieces.  you will need 2 6x6 plate pieces and one 90 degree triangle with at least 4 and a half inch legs. Reply:Working with sheetmetal vs solid steel is a good place to start; simple things like windchimes, medallions, name plates are all simple things, and the cost of necessary equpiment and tooling is not much. A bit of flux and solder, propane torch, maybe soldering irons, and you are in business. Other things can be used, bronze or copper sheet, brazing rod, simple stuff. Good luck.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
