The fun started at 8AM, and continued unabated for many hours. Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I wondered how well the neck was going to hold up lookin' over your shoulder all the time. By the way, Samm, watch out for those trunks w/ broken off branches. Those farm tractor tires aren't as tough as skidder tires!!!!  It looks you built it well and it's performing good. Good job. Reply:Glad it worked for you must be feeling a little satisfaction on a good build. now all you need to do is reverse the steering and controls in the tractor to avoid the stiff neck.
Reply:That is what I wanted to see. It appears to be working very well. I would have to rig up some rear view mirrows to do that. My old neck is so stiff I can't look over my shoulder anymore.
Reply:Looks like fun. Howed it work sam?
Reply:cheaper than a dozer.  mirrors would be a good investment. or you can go high tech and put in a back up camera.
Reply:Oldtimer, Lars-  I went into town for dinner at Sonic, then went to the grocery store to scare up somethin' for supper.  When I got out of the pickup, I could hardly move.  Neck, lower back, you name it.  It's not so bad if you sit sorta sideways on the tractor seat, but you better be able to move in a heartbeat to get to the pedals.mla2ofus--  It's kind of scary when you go over trunks that are still layin' down.  The damn things crunch and pop.  Lot of potential sharp edges there.  I switched to tubeless rear tires this Summer, when the old tube type wore out.  The carcass is a lot stiffer, and thicker.  I hope it helps.  Meanwhile, just have to keep sweatin' it.  Steerin' tires are still the cheap A## tube type, thin as paper.Daddy, and Spiral-- Thanks"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Samm, I thought you'd be waiting at least another week before setting up your Christmas Tree lot! That first tree is very nice and open so all the ornaments will show up very well, plus there's lots of room among the branches for gifts and popcorn.

Reply:Farmersamm:That looks like it is working EXACTLY as planned!  It's a real good feeling when something you've rigged up and built yourself  is completed and does exactly the chore you designed it to do!As to spotting over....  How long before snow flies there now?  In New Hampshire we can burn without a permit anytime there is snow on the ground. Reply:Samm, Aleve is a wonder drug. No joke. I have arteritis in almost every joint and on the advice of my wife's bone guy and the family doc, I take 2 every morning and every night unless I forget it. It doesn't take too many hours until you realise you forgot to take them either. I'm cheap, got Scottish ancestors so it's just natural. I take Equate naproxin sodium from WallyWorld. About half the price of Alieve and the same thing. I tried both and no difference in the result. I wouldn't get much done if not for it.The bone guy has my wife on Celebrex and it has done wonders for her but it sure is expensive.Last edited by Oldtimer; 11-18-2008 at 11:18 AM.

Reply:Originally Posted by TractapacWe had the bale wrapper guy in yesterday and he had a Deere. Also had a swivel seat, which was great, so he could turn to the right to check on bale alignment before driving the wrapper over it.Real pleased that it's doing the job so well. To spread the neck ache, alternate between looking over each shoulder! I don't know whether I could rely on mirrors or screens to get that sort of thing right.
