Ive read a few threads where the person says the "pulled" the bead or "pushed" the bead, can someone explain this to me please. Are you talking about vertical welding, one direction being pulling one being pushing, or is it flat position?  Is there a link on here with terminology that  I could check out? Thanks guys,                                                   Craig
Reply:Push the puddle across the join or pull it, dragging is pulling. Pulling the puddle is like what you do when flat stick welding.
Reply:its the relationship between the angle of the gun, torch, rod(GTR) and the direction of travel. if the GTR is pointed toward the direction you are welding, you are pushing. if its pointed away, you are pulling
Reply:OK, thank you for clearing it up for me. Ive been welding for a good while but didnt understand what was meant by this. This is a great forum by the way, lots of info
