Thought I would share some pictures of my 1950 Allis Chalmers WD I restored. the sheet metal was in pretty rough shape, I had to do quite a bit of welding and hammering to get everything straight again. This was also my first try at doing my own painting, it is dupont paint with Imron clear.Gary Attached Images

Thiswas made the day before AC closed the doors forever.Do you post to the unofficial allis forum??http://www.allischalmers.com/these guys would like to see that tractor.G3miller... 225g, s32p, 250x, 304, 12vs, MSW41     victor o/a thermal dynamics cutmaster 50 lenco panel spotter        hobart hf-boxG3 Farms.....raising cattle, hay, kids and hell, ...oh yeah I'm a fire sprinkler contractor by trade.

Reply:That is a thing of beauty man.Did you have any problems with the gas tank?.  Sometimes they're in pretty rough shape when you do a resto.  Lot of pinholes.  There's some product I saw in Hemmings that you can put in the tank to coat, and seal it.The final drives at the axle look reminiscant of a riceland tractor with the drop.  Is that a usual thing with the WD?  My 190 takes 90w in the outer axle, and the trans takes trans hydraulic.  I wonder if the design carried thru to later years.  Is your entire rear using the same type of oil? And, is the engine sleeved?  My old H International has a sleeved engine, and I wondered if it was a pretty well across the board design in those years. It's a labor of love, and the lighting on the one pic does it justice. Thanks"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:What's really something, is that during the war years in the 40's a red Farmall would slowly change to orange over the years.  It had something to do with war rationed pigment or something.  Cool stuff."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Excellent job, Kibby. I have a '53 CA sitting in the pasture that my Dad bought new. I have been planning on bring it back to life for quite a while but can't seem to get started. Allis built great tractors, hated to see them go away.I bought a Kubota earlier this year. It's color was one factor in deciding to buy it.
Reply:Glad you guys like my Allis, it has been in the family for many years.  It has all the original sheet metal on it and it took me about 8 months to finish. it's amazing to see the direction these post take sometimes, I had a good laugh reading this tread this morning.thanksGary

Reply:I gotsa   tractor story , & here it  "R". In 1958 , my dad (self employed backhoe operator, wanted a NEW tractor . We cleaned up & painted his Ford NAA (1953 ) , then he traded it in (San Francisco) to the case dealer for a new case (model 310 ?) w/loader and backhoe . I hated that case . Lousy brakes . Non existant . The Ford looked so good ,the dealer put it in his showroom . Did NOT start it for a month ! Then, when he did , the clutch stuck or some thing- it took off & went right through the wall of the showroom , into the street . They called up my dad , & wanted him to pay damages . My dad just laughed at them &" their" FORD tractor .[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
