Figured I'd post this, I did it awhile ago. It's used to reel up cable that goes to temporary traffic signals i.e, if there's a one lane bridge going around a construction site it'll connect both sets of light. Apparently when I made this radio control was not approved in NS, could be now as they were looking into it.I didn't actually make the trailer (wouldn't put my name to it, too lightly made) but added all the extras.1: Side view of the trailer, the galvanized box on the front houses the hydraulic power pack, battery and hyd tank. I made it to be removable should they want to use it for something else (log splitter came tomind :-) )2: The hydraulics, I don't paint, apparently neither do they3: The shaft that goes thru the cabl reel. If I rememeber right it'll hold almost a mile? of cable. Origonally a boom truck was used, the truck was sold and the cable had been rooled up by hand, not a fun job I don't imagine4: Origonally a hand winch, I added a hydraulic motor. the boom (another pic) is made to rotate, manually, and allow the operator to pick up a reel and sit it in the cradle.5: Another shot of the boom folded up. It'll lift up and the pin goes in it ot hold it vertical. You can see the control valve in the foreground............continued.......... Attached ImagesLast edited by mrmikey; 12-17-2008 at 06:06 PM.
Reply:........continued.......6: The outriggers, without them the trailer would lift up in the front while picking up a reel. I had to reinforce the underside of the trailer as well added a hydraulic cylinder to extend the outriggers. It's manually cranked down. The reinforcement also strengthens the mount for the cable.7: Amber strobe that folds up......Mike Attached Images
