Reply:oh and one time i went to a place for one sheet of 18ga steele, one place told me if wouldnt be worth the price for him to pull just one sheet. So i would guess you got a good price.
Reply:One of my sons just bought a hundred pounds, it came out at 70¢ a pound. Common size, 2x2x3/16ths..
Reply:Prices seem to be all over the board right now.The guy I deal with here went down to $50 per stick on 3" standard weight channel, the guy over in Stillwater has a special goin' for 1.75 a foot, but you gotta pay $3 a cut to cut it down to fit in the back of the pickup, plus it's a 100mi round trip. Then heard the other day that scrap doubled(doubled from what, I don't know), and the supplier was grinnin' like a cat that swallowed the mouse.  Let him grin, I got my money in my back pocket, and it's stayin' there for a while.Got 3 things that need doin'.  Chutes, subsoiler, and bulk trailer.  They can wait.Stay calm, it's gotta come down pretty soon."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Just dug out my yellow stickies.14ga 5x10.... one place 142.09, another place 92.00.  All within about a week.  Hell, I don't know.  All I know is, I need a bunch of it, and my income ain't goin' up.  So, I'm waitin' it out."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:There's a new scrap business that started up near here about a month ago.  Their gate's been padlocked for about a little over a week and a half."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Its tough right now. The scrap guys said that now one is buying the scrap right now.
Reply:What drives ya nuts, is that the price of steel isn't coming down as fast as the scrap, which everybody tells me, is the leading price for new steel.  I don't have a clue."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Vendors are still selling metal for which they paid high prices.  So their prices cannot follow scrap prices.
Reply:Yeah, I been hearin' that. But the supplier that's cryin' the high price "gotta sell it for what I bought it for" blues, is the same SOB that sold me a Ranger during our last ice storm for 500 above what it cost a week before. Go figure.Far as I'm concerned, he can sit on it till it rots this time around.  I got the bucks, he's got the steel.  Let's see who lasts the longest."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:3"x 3"x 3/16" square tubing 24 feet long $159 and change. Priced three days ago.  He still has it on the rack.Mack

Reply:There is a big scrap dealer in Hobbs, NM. Been there forever. Busy place always. Not anymore. Local paper had an article about them a couple of weeks ago. Told the price he was getting for scrap a couple of months ago and what it is now. The deal is scrap steel is worthless now. He said he had eight cars of scrap setting on the railroad siding and no one would buy it.In the last several years anytime I drove by the place there was a long line waiting to go across the scales. I drove by the place on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. No one there with scrap to sell and all the equipment setting idle.We should see some movement down in steel prices before long. I certainly hope so as I put a big carport on the back burner because of steel prices. It sure would be handy to have this thing built. On a side note copper prices should be on the way down too as Philpps-Dodge just shut down both their copper mines in New Mexico. Said the price of copper wouldn't pay the cost of mining anymore.

Reply:Here in NE North Carolina:2 x 2 x 3/16 tubing - $99.302 x 2 x 1/8" angle - $26.824 x 8 mesh - approx. $57/sheet2 x 1/4 flat bar - $28.83All 20' lengths, as they will not sell less.  But, they will cut it for you.
Reply:Seems to be a disconnect here.  Prices should be lower considering what's goin' on around us.Crude went down into the 30's today."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:man i feel super lucky.i can buy from my work anything we have(box,channel,angle,plate)for10cents a pound no matter how much i buy or if it new or old.to bad they laid me off.
Reply:Checked on Monday.  Place over in Stillwater still wants 2.49/ft for 4.1lb 3" channel.  And the stuff sits on racks out in the rain.I'm pretty sure the guy over here doesn't stock anything but medium weight 5.0lb channel, and he wants $50 a stick.  Been buyin' the crap from him for years, and never thought to ask the weight, but it's what's called medium weight around here.  This stuff comes off the float, and goes right in the warehouse.  No rain. It's still too high.  Read a thing from some metal dealers price site, and they say that domestic is down to 50/cwt, and import is down to 37.50/cwt delivered to Houston.  Plus, it's forecasted to go much lower by Feb."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I use Triple S Steel in Houston. Before I go inside I look through the surplus metal outside. Its .30 to .40cents a lb.I carry guns because cops are too heavy. .. ..-.   -.-- --- ..-   - .... .. -. -.-   .... .- .-. -..   . -. --- ..- --. ....   -.-- --- ..-   -.-. .- -.   ..-. .. --. ..- .-. .   .- -. -.-- - .... .. -. --.   --- ..- -
