Where to find GOOD grinding wheels?

I have a Ryobi 8" bench grinder, and as is all too common, the stock wheels are out of true or out of balance and shake the whole building, even after attempting to dress them.  I've read often that this is extremely common, and you need to trash the stock wheels and buy some good, high-quality wheels that are true and balanced.  But where do you find such wheels? I'm sure the $15 off-the-shelf wheels at Tractor Supply and Sears aren't any better.

Reply:I bought a used Dayton at a garage sale, it runs very smooth and a lot more power than my old Harbor Freight one. After I got it home though I was shocked to find a made in china sticker on the back.I use the Norton wheels, no problems. Reply:After using both GOOD (baldor) and "OK, not great" (harbor freight) bench grinders, one feature I would look for in one would be a capacitor starting feature.  You can identify this as a "lump" off to the side of the motor case.  This style of electric motor kicks into a high current/high voltage winding when the speed is sufficiently low, and centrifugal force deactivates the switch when it gets up to speed.  It helps greatly to get it up to speed after turning it on.  If you don't have it you have to wait a little bit for it to get up to speed after turning it on.Just my 2c.

Reply:Buy Norton wheels.Many grinding wheels are out of balance.Buy a lawn mower cone type balancer to check for out of balance.I use resin bond wheels on my saw sharpener, some wheels are out of balance.I mark the  bad wheels NG and use them for rough work.My planer knife grinder came with a wheel that was worthless.Some 8 inch grinders run too fast.
