Hi!Any of you ever heard of a place that offers titanium TIG training? I would prefer in the north-eastern part of the continent. That is something I really got to learn about.CheersRiver
Reply:titanium is no diffrent than stainless..same settings...gas..you just cant get it to hot so it changes color too bad (get real light grey) and thats about it......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Hobart Institute of Welding Tech. offers a class in titanium.  Zap is right though, if you can weld stainless, you can weld titanium.  It just needs slightly better shielding than stainless.
Reply:Yep, shielding is the primary factor.  People go to great lengths to get the best shielding possible.  Big gas lenses, custom fit trailing shields, back-side shielding.  The best is welding within an inert chamber.
Reply:What continent are you on?
Reply:It's generally like stainless steel to weld- apart from the importance of sheilding while welding and cooling - but there is more to it than that.If you're really serious about like we are at my work, (for pipe welding) you'll use a carbide burr on both inside, outside, bevel, and root face for the complete removal of the oxide layer, 2 cm on both sides.Titanium has an extreme affinity for oxygen!
