Esseti 150 - can you TIG with it

Hi all,First post.I have an Eseti 150 inverter TIG/Stick machine.  It is a lift arc TIG and stick.  It came with a TIG kit - ie hand controller for gas control with tungsten holder and regulator.  It is a brilliant little stick welder, but I am yet to weld TIG with it.  I bought it as a portable a quite powerful little stick arc welder.  I am looking at doing some small stainless stuff.  It is worth getting the bottle and using TIG.  I am not seriously thinking that it can do alluminium, but has anyone used a DC only inverter machine for TIG with alloy?Cheers
Reply:Get a bottle of Argon and have at it.Most of the little inverters have a greattig arc. I never used your machinebut I doubt it's much different thena Maxstar 150 on the tig side.

Reply:Depends which machines but dc only machines, mild steel and stainless steel.Sometimes both together.

Reply:cheers mate.  Yep shes a nice bit of gear even as a straight stick application.  I bought it because I was a crap welder with a cheap ac/dc machine - ie a 130 (yeah right) amp trade tools one.  I also needed it to be really portable.  I had a choice to go with the invertor or a big fat heavy old fashioned bit of gear on wheels.  I also like the hot start function - makes me a better welder.  I learned (apart from the crappy elcheapo) on a massive 200 amp Miller at TAFE.  What I was wrapped in was that this little baby starts and holds a nice steady arc with 3.2mm rods just like the big arse TAFE one.  I am really happy with it.Im glad to hear that it can TIG nicely.  I did TIG at tafe ages ago and am keen to kick along with it and learn.  Any tips with this machine would be greatly appreciated.Cheers mate.SCOTT
