I don't know, honestly, where I went wrong on this forum.  However, being a newbie to this site, I think maybe I have acted in such a way that is unbecoming of someone who is asking for help and advice. To SundownIII:  I will publicly apologize for being such an ungrateful smartazz to you. I appreciate the advice you have given me and I believe you probably did have good intentions. All I ask is that, if I do indeed manage to research what I need to know and still have questions, that you please do not offer me to "pay someone".  That is not my intention here. I want to learn this to do this for myself.  I am not trying to learn over night. I have many months, at a minimum, before I attempt to run my service panel.  I have many months before I would attempt to build my anti-sway bar.  I bought my machine to stick weld and then learned I could actually have a crude Tig machine as an added benefit.  That will have to suffice until I can afford another method.  I work for a measly $9.00 per hour. I took that job because it was the only thing that I could find after filling out well over 100 applications. I was out of work for a almost a year prior to this job and its still the only thing that I have been able to manage. The economy in my area is pathetic.  I am not crying about my job and I am not asking for sympathy.  I am only saying that I have limited financial means to support this hobby and I am in no hurry.  Whatever means I have to start this hobby is all I have access too.  I ate Ramen noodles and ham sandwiches for months in order to pay for this Airco machine. If its not good enough then that is just my loss. So, anyhow, however it is that I have pizzed you off I am sorry. To Black Wolf:  Again, I do not understand what I said wrong in that flow meter thread.  I don't know why anyone else got involved other than a person who should have been offering to sell me a flow meter. At any rate, I responded to your post and used language that may not have been called for.  To you I also apologize. To OldIron2:  Thank you and to you I apologize for you having to even get involved in this.To everyone else who may be angry with me and have not said anything I also apologize for my behavior.

Reply:Study massively, then you will make posts which reflect it. Pick one relevant forum section at a time, and read as many of the posts in it as you can. Repeat.
Reply:Just keep studying. And also find a better paying job. Unless you have ties to your area there is way better money in other places. You seem smart enough to not be on the low rung of the ladder.
Reply:When you start a thread try to include the big picture... I know on the sway bar thread people were responding to the safety aspect. No one wants to think that someone else might get hurt due to them not speaking up on a safety issue... most of us have been hurt at some level or another ... and want to keep others from going through that if we can.Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
Reply:MWalden, your apology shows character.  Just toughen up that skin of yours and you will be fine on this forum.
Reply:Takes some amount of character to speak up like you did. Good luck.
Reply:Well, I am old enough and have made enough mistakes in my life to know that I can be a real smart a$$ sometimes and not realize it.  I will argue with a fence post.  Its not soft skin its hard headedness.  My only real gripe here is that I am truly wanting to do all of this right the first time. I am not trying to hack my way through it and not even looking to cheap out.  I refuse to pay someone to do this though.  I can't pay someone to do it.  I don't want to pay someone to do what I know I can do with some information.Last edited by MWalden; 06-30-2011 at 10:50 PM.

Reply:Welcome MWalden,I see you have a passion burning in you. Learning this trade is a bitch, as most including "Mr.Crabby" went thru. Thank heavens this site and some others that have some oldtimers that can give some real sage advice. From my perspective I appreciate your apology to "Mr. Crabby". He rarely is wrong, and in most cases guides you along the process until he loses patience. Thus "Mr. Crabby".Good Luck in you future endeavors.Shovelon
Reply:MW,Where in North Florida are you located? I live in Southeastern GA (30 minutes north of Jacksonville. If you are close enough I can give you a hand with your wiring issue - whether you decide to do a sub-panel or dedicated welding circuit. Are far as the welding help, I am still in the noobie stage - I had a couple of Navy HTs teach me the basics of TIG 25 years ago; but obviously I didn't retain much. I have a MIG and TIG that I am practicing with; still trying to get something good enough to take a picture of to find what I need to change!
Reply:Good to see we are becoming one big happy family now.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:i was laid off from a shipyard in the northeast around 1978 along with several thousand other welders.  when an ad would hit the paper, rarely, there would be a hundred other guys applying for the position.  (things were so bad then it didn't matter what kind of job it was there would be a hundred applicants)i packed up and went to southern california,  was working withing a few days, things were booming in orange county.this is a link from craigslist in tulsa oklahoma.  take a look around this area of the country.  there is a lot more happening there than most other parts.http://tulsa.craigslist.org/trd/
Reply:Originally Posted by MWaldenI have been doing just that.  As one person said, if you don't understand the language, it is difficult to phrase good questions.I actually have an interview tomorrow for a much better paying job. Not great money but a lot more than I am making now.  Tried to go back into the Army but they wouldn't have me due to a couple of kidney stones I had thirteen years ago. I was stupid to declare those episodes at MEPS.  Oh well, this past birthday this month was my last chance. I am not past the age of enlistment even with 6 years prior service. My only remaining family is here where I am now.  I guess, for now, I am kind of tied to this armpit.
Reply:i would look into your local vocational technical institute... i'm sure a class would be cheaper and serve you alot better. when you figure in the cost of a machine up front, consumables, steel and other equipment such as grinders, wire brushes, hammers and whatever else you might need. a class sounds pretty good to me especially when your using their machine, their consumables, their materials and other misc equipment.. plus you have an instructor at your disposal, plus you might meet other contacts within the class, maybe even a friend or two.. education is not cheap, but it is priceless..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
