This is my first time using a mig welder in over 12 years. I think it turned out pretty good and it doesn't leak.
Reply:That looks awesome the welds look good too.
Reply:The pics weirded out somehow.Did you do it to put a bigger ring gear in, or to armour the carrier housing.??  It looks like thick material (edited add on)Looks great"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:looks like it will outlast the truck.
Reply:Good JobWhy not weld a towing shackle to it also?Looks strong enough!

Reply:Just wondering how you cut out the ring?  Nice job also.Bob from Idaho
Reply:I bought it as a kit. I just put the pieces together welded it inside and out. I believe all of the pieces are cut on a cnc plasma machine though.
Reply:Pretty sweet, where did you buy the kit?Learn to burn...........Lincoln Powermig 350 MpHobart AirForce 400
Reply:Xj's are the best jeeps in my opinion. I think it's funny when yj and tj guys talk down about them and then you go more places than them. --Gol'

Reply:Originally Posted by familyxjI bought mine from 4wd.com but next time I get BTF products I will buy them directly from BTF.  And yes I love my XJ. My father in law has a YJ and I constantly give him crap about not being able to go where mine can. Of course I am locked and he is open so that definitely helps my cause.

Reply:I have an Aussie in the front and a limited slip in the rear. The limited slip works so well I can't justify replacing it with a locker yet. Are you going to post pics of your long arm build?

Reply:Thank you. I was very happy there weren't any leaks.
Reply:Nice man, it looks good! Where at in AZ are you? Ive got the RK 6.5" LA, ARB's blah blah blah.  I just ordered the Solid Axle Industries diff cover for the 30. They have that sale going again for $65 shipped. On the 8.25 cover. What did you do to make sure it didn't warp while you welded it?  I am really interested in their DIY kit.

The Blue Torch covers are cool, but my preference is the Ballistics:http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/...er_p_1594.htmlJust two pieces to weld and keeps the assembly much simpler.

Reply:Ruff Stuff Specialties diff covers are even heavier and also come as a 2 piece kit.

Reply:Nice looking cover, I love wheeling in xj's, but I'm pretty happy with my old Willys now. Never really cared too much for the 95 yj my wife had. Haven't had an xj since my 99 got totalled in 01. Been eyeing a few lately, especially since I got to hanging around Mark Colman from www.detoursusa.com .Rob H.
Reply:I love my XJ. I'm sure you can get a thicker diff cover but I don't think my diff cover is a weak link anymore. I would guess the housing would give before the cover would.
