i decided to put my grinder on a stand to keep it near the door so i could get the particles out easy(compressed air). i reasoned i would be standing when i used it so i made it 52 inches high which is a good height for my hands and eyes(im 6 feet tall).(i intend to fine tune the height before i put the plate on..) base is some 6 x 4 x 3/4 angle ( 20 pounds a foot) , pedestal is some 2 1/2 inch flange beams i got froma scrap dealer..without top plate and grinder the base and pedestal wiegh 55 pounds. the square base rolls around just as easy as if it was round. 1/8 7018 120 amps ac .(rod is 2 years old and has been stored in a bucket of cold water). hope to finish it next weekend. Reply:sam thx fer the compliment ....i think soakin the rod helps..yes the ssucker is nice and heavy should work good...i used a clamp and a square and a straightedge and everything to get the 2 angles nice and even,if you look in the first pictures you can see them, im not kidding, its actually flat across the bottom.. if i get the grinder on it and it seems wobbly ill weld another 40 pounds onto the base..my kind of engineerin..
