Hey I am new to the forums and I have a millermatic 135. I am currently installing a notch in the frame of a ford ranger pickup. for those of you that dont know what a notch is it is something like this. ____/--\____the notch will be eight inches high. I am pretty good with the flux core wire and I have been looking into getting some gas and run regular mig wire. what mix of gas should I buy. the metal is just under an eight of an inch thick.

Reply:i would suggest that since your running a relatively low amp machine you should use straight CO2. Straight CO2 will provide a little more penetration.now for the safety lecture, if you are new to welding you should have your frame welded by a pro (or at very least, someone with enough experience to know that the job is done safely). |
