FluxCore smoke

When welding with Fluxcore so much smoke is generated i have trouble seeing the line I am welding. Could I take the mig nozzle off the torch when using flux core, I think it would give me a much better view of the weld area
Reply:No problem as far as the weld but you may get spatter in the gas outlets of the gun.  I think Lincoln and Hobart sell a fluxcore nozzle to keep out the spatter.  You could make one by cutting down a standard nozzle.  Just leave enough to cover the gas outlets.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
Reply:See if your welder has or uses a flux-core nozzle.  It's smaller diameter than the 'real' MIG nozzle and doesn't stick out as far (no need to because there is no shielding gas to guide to the arc), its main purpose is to keep the attachment threads on the torch end from getting buggered by slag, spatter, and heat.An example would be Lincoln part number KP1939-1 or M16418 "Gasless Nozzle".
Reply:put a fan behind you to blow the smoke away.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Try using some Nozzle Gel...  You should by rights keep your nozzle on.Different Wire (Gas-shielded and self-shielded ) have different stick-out distances.  (ex.  1/2"-3/4" ) Perhaps you are in too close with your gun.The self -shielding wire does smoke more. I use the Lincoln NR212 All-Position Wire with good results. Make sure the drafts, (if any) aren't causing you the problem.Brian
Reply:I always use a respirator when using flux-core, also when welding galvanized.  It may save you from dragging around an oxygen bottle in your later years.
Reply:With flux core just take the outer nozzle off. Spray the tip and diffuser area good with your favorite anti-spatter. Clean it up a bit when you go back to shielding gas.
