Started yesterday on building a WO heater....took two 30 gallon tanks (air comp.) chopped the domed ends off of each, butt welded them together... Stands about 6 feet tall now.Thread is worthless without pics ..... I know...LOL. Will get some later tonite.Still need to cut holes in top 4" and 6" for make up air, and flue......and cut 12"x12" hole in side for access door. It's supposed to be like 45 the rest of this week......perfect friggin timing.LOL.I've been gone a loooooooong time too.......good to see this place is still rockin and rollin.Miller blue star 2eLincoln 175
Reply:I built a wvo heater although mine is from a converted beckett oil burner, not a drip style as I imagine you are doing.
Reply:Correct!!! It's gonna be a dripper for starts.I'd like to play with it, and see if I'll be able to run wood in it when needed.Buddy of mine is a fitter, and he's gonna get me all kinds of valves, parts, pipe etc.I'ts gonna be a frankenstein for sure!!!Miller blue star 2eLincoln 175
Reply:Here's some pics of the heater......just finished and fired today, had it up to about 500 degrees to burn some paint off....Sucks not having the proper tools...LOL.only a cut off wheel, sawzall, jigsaw, and a 175 mig. This is a prototype....will be redoing with a one piece tank....and some cutting torches. haha. Reply:i guess im wondering how the hell its saposed to work
Reply:LOL.....yeah, I should have elaborated....I still need some parts. The pic that's looking at the front of the cars....there's a dark 3" pipe...that's the intake.A copper tube will run down that pipe, that goes about 3/4 of the way into the furnace.....the copper tube will drip oil onto a "burner" made of an aluminum disc 6" in diameter, 1" thick, with a 12 degree bevel on it to make it a "dish".Burner will be held up by a 1" nipple, about 6 inches tall....so from the burner face, to the opening of the 3" pipe it'll be about 8 inches.Once the furnace is lit, and the door closed (still need hinges and a latch) , the flue will provide a draft that will make the flame "flower" out to the sides, thus heating the tank, and the shop.Still need to make a storage tank for the oil....and get needed copper tubing, and valves etc...and have burner machined. When said and done, it'll burn with no electricity whatsoever......nice free cheap heat......and when it gets ripping hot, burns odor, and smoke free.Miller blue star 2eLincoln 175
Reply:i kinda get it i thinkwhat regulates the drip? if possibly.. you think you could shoot a vid on how this works and post it?do you have any other information on one of this? websites/plans/etc etc?
Reply:Just a needle valve regulates drip, you could probably get fancier....but ..... I'm cheap. LOL.I saw it on .......crap...I think this is it http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel_...arth/me11.htmlHope that works.Up at the top of that link it'll say click here to go to Roger Sanders' heater.......that's the one I built this off of.Miller blue star 2eLincoln 175 |
