WOW O2 regulator shock

My oxygen regulator went nuts this weekend.  The adjustable side would just max out when I cracked the valve, so I thought I would just go buy a new one. $140 online for a SR450D.My brother gave me these gauges 8 years ago, and they have been working fine till now.  I can get the rebuild kit for $38, but there is a guy in town  that rebuilds them, so I guess I will let him do it for safety reasons.I didn't know these gauges where in that price range.Thanks for readingT
Reply:Jeeze. My Victors arent gods gift to steel by any means, but still. everything was $200 and it still works great. Reply:I wouldn't hesitate to have it rebuilt. Comes back like new, life is good.The CLEANING is the tedious part and a rebuild doesn't cost much more than retail parts. I do my own acetylene regs but for the price I let rebuilders do the oxygen.It's cheap (normally well under a hundred bucks) and your reg will be good for many more years. Victors can be rebuilt multiple times. I have a 450 with five rebuilders stamps on it and it's still rebuildable. (Construction crews aren't nice to equipment!)450/460s are excellent regs and great to work with.
Reply:I am gonna have it rebuilt.  I have no idea how old they are.  He got them free when they shut his plant down, but that was15 years ago.  He was the very last maintenance person on the job, and I kick myself in the butt for not buying the SA200 he got for free as well.  My bad!   I was surprised at the cost of new ones.  I think I will call him, and thank him again.
