im just gettin started in welding and im looking for a good mig welder for my use i want to be able to weld alluminum and stainless and use my welder for some body work and repairs around the house, i dont have 220 so the welder would have to be 110, does anyone know of a reliable welder that is capable of doing what i want running off 110?-corey

They are good welders, especially considering the power consumption and cost. There are a ton of ways to extend these welders' useful range. Just remember no matter who says it can't be done with these, there are another 3 stubborn guys here who have indeed done it with these welders. Practice is the key. Stick to thin wire-.023 for steel, .030(5356) for aluminum.Mixed gas for steel(80/20, etc...) and pure argon for aluminum. Good luck!!

Reply:I'd get a machine that'll take a spool gun - just in case. Also, why no 220? If you're gonna invest in a machine why not put in an outlet and get something that isn't underpowered?
