Since retiring, I downsized quite a bit. I sold my 3/4 ton pickup and bought a Ranger. Problem was, hauling full sized Argon, Argon/CO2, and Oxygen cylinders gave me fits. My PU is extended cab, and with the aluminum cross over tool box (deep) the cylinders wouldn't fit. Not to mention, a full argon or argon/co2 cylinders make me have a voice pitch change for a couple of days. So, I made the below up. The 2 square tubes touching the floor go in my stack pockets. I have to redo the rubber on the flat that lays on the bed rail. I either C clamp or finger clamp the thing to the bed rails. I made a sling for loading and unloading cylinders at my shop. I put the cylinder in place, and either bungee or ratchet strap the tanks in place. When the gate closes, it right up against the tanks. I only use the 3 center postions, but could use all 5. My tailgate is only a couple of inches lower than the LWS dock, so it's an easy unload and load there. Not to mention, I'm also DOT legal as all tanks are transported upright. Attached Images
Reply:Another neat idea.Skip the bungees and just use the ratchet straps. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
