Here are a few pictures of the trailer I am building. It is almost done, I have three tie downs to weld on and a couple pieces of 1/2" conduit to tack on to run wires through, plumb in the hydrulic cylinders, a quick clean up and off it goes to the paint booth. A few of these pictures I have posted before in my first posting, but I have added somemore, particuarly for the latch on the tilt. I'll post somemore when it is painted and decked. Here are a few shots of the latch mechanisim. This one the latch is in the locked open position.
Reply:Looks good!
Reply:Appreciate the pics. She'll really look great once painted. I am kinda a trailer addict. Is the main runners and tongue 4 inch channel and the cross members maybe 3/16 x2x3 angle? What are the demensions? Did you have a set of plans? If you have not guessed I have a need for a tilt trailer and am about to investigate plans.
Reply:Geezer, thanks for the compliments, yes the main frame is 5.4 4" channel, and the cross stringers is 3/16 2 x 3 angle. However it is not shown in any of these pictures but I cut out one cross brace and replaced it with 2" x 1/4" square tube. This is the upper mount for the cylinders. The brackets for the cylinders are cnc plasma cut from 1" plate, I know that it is overkill but I used 1" so it would fit the cylinder clevis better. I should get some painting done this weekend, I'll post more pics when done.
Reply:Thanks for the info. Cylinders? Will this be a power tilt trailer or a winch?Could I please have the length and width?I would like to follow your design. Maybe a PM would be in order if you have time
Reply:Geezer, it will be a power tilt. I aready have a 5 hp horizontal shaft motor, 8 gpm hydraulic pump, lovejoy coupling. All I need is a valve and a small oil tank and a few hoses. I was going to use a 12v power pak but already have most of what I need. My trailer is going to be used to mainly haul my Rhino, using a gas motor I could add a diversion valve, small hydraulic motor and a 2" water pump and could wash the Rhino down before loading it back up. The trailer is 14 1/2' x 6' 10" wide. The deck plate on the back is 18" wide. I'd be glad to help out how ever I can.

Evidently your cross members are on 2ft centers. I just finished a 14ft enclosed and a 18ft flatbed. Had a pretty significant vibration on the flat bed that turned out to be a poor job balancing the wheels. That was a relief, poor fab work on my part was all I could think of.I really am interested in your progress. The pump is a very nice touch. Will be watching your progress, many thanks. |
