Whats a respectable price for a synchro 180 with leads? What kind of hook up will I need to have to use this at home in the garage?Welding Supervisor Department of Corrections.
Reply:$1000-1300 is probably a fair price depending on exactly what comes with it. For a bare machine with just stick leads and no tig gear, I'd probably say even lower. Anything over say $1500 and you are starting to get close to the price of a new Syncro 200 ($2100 or so)That machine will run on a 50 amp 230v line with no issues. You might get away at low power on 30 amps, if you had to, but you won't be able to run in the upper amp range, say to do 1/8" alum most likely.If you go to Millers site and down load the manual I believe there is a sequence you can use to pull up the run time and arc strikes like you can on the Syncro 200's. Thet will give you some idea how "used" the machine is. On poster here recently checked out a "used" syncro 200 and found it had only 90 hrs on the meter, and the PO mentioned he'd left it one overnight at least once..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:$800ish is what I would expect to pay for one around here. Just remember, a tig torch is going to set you back $150, a pedal $200, TIG torch adapter (specialty item ) $75, Work clamp $35, so add/subtract that form the price of the machine. I gave $800 for mine several years ago and have been happy with it. I do run out of amps om it regularly welding 1/4" aluminum and 3/8" steel. I think now that for me a 200 amp machine would be marginal and a 250 amp machine would suit my needs much better YMMV.
Reply:$800-1200 If you see someone trying to sell a old style (non digital display) for more than a grand they need a reality check. I sold my 2006 180SD for $1100 and it was the runner and complete with accesories.

Reply:Crap, car repair went up, spend $800 to replace two gears and a synchro or $447 plus tax for a used and warranted trans and $200 off the bill to sell the three remaining good gears and synchro's to the mechanic.
