I've been wanting to make a set of cable reels for a long time.  I've seen many on the "Pipeliner Rigs", and on others.  I just read through the archives on this site concerning cable reels.  I guess we all have the same desire, the ability to roll up our leads, neatly and efficiently.  My ideal roll up would be one that is "hot" all the time. Here's a pic of one I may copy just for my shop machine.  Simply made and rugged looking.  A guy in OK makes them and they are listed on eBay.  Item # 300299222655.Ground and Stinger cable gets attached to the base (from machine).  Ground and Stinger get attached to the spool.  The metal that is "hot" is insulated from your truck or machine by heavy nylon insulating blocks.  Pretty inventive.  The Nylon Pads are the black items with the mounting holes in them. Reply:Here's mineThe bungie straps keep them from free wheeling and dumping all the lead off, but they allow you pull more lead when your not right up to the truck.  I used steering wheel knobs for the handles."I'd rather be careful a hundred times as killed once"
Reply:we have three service trucks with cox cable reels, they work great. we mounted them inside the service body, due to the theft of cables when copper scrap pricing was real high. here is a link.  you can even get a motorized version.http://www.coxreels.com/quality_reel...cl_series.html
