I just thought I would share with you all, what it is that I do on most days! This first pic is of the Cat-0 A-frame that I build and sell.It is made of 2x2x1/4 tube, 2x3/8 for the risers and 5/8 zinc coated rod for the pins! You can see that it has a drop ear, that is so that when plowing, and the tractor is in the furrow, it can be tilted to keep the plow running on an even keel. The next pic is of an adapter bracket that I make for replacing the sleeve hitch mount on the front of a Brinly plow, so that you can attach it to that A-frame, and use an old Brinly on a tractor equipped with a 3 point hitch. It is made of 4x1/2 for the front and 3x1/2 for the piece that goes into the front of a plow to replace the old sleeve hitch mount!I sell these as well as a complete 3 point hitch for the later John Deere 300 series tractors, I/E 316, 318, a complete sleeve hitch for the old John Deere prior to 68 110, 112 and 68 and later 110, 112, 120, 140, 200 and early 300 series tractors and a hand full of other no longer available parts for the older/antique garden tractors like lift links, rods, pins, brackets and so forth, to mostly collectors across the country. Not to mention the odd request for a special part that some one needs, and I have to research it and fab it up, most cases it requires me to make special tooling to be able to make the part to JD's specs. This is just enough to keep me busy on a regular basis. Thanks for looking!Ken. Attached Images#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:I've seen that weird offset hitch pin stuff.  I didn't know what it fit.Paint it green, and it doubles in price"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Yup!Your about right Farmer! But I have painted these yellow, blue, red, black and white, for the occasional other tractors out there. But JD collectors tend to keep me busy!#1. Reply:How the heck did I get the impression you were retired? Neat stuff you build. How do you market them.I'm assuming your customers are not all local folk.A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:Thanks Magnetic Mechanic!Nope! Can't afford to retire, got too many more years before I can even think about that!I do advertise on craigslist, but most come from my adds on a bunch of garden tractor clubs web sites'One of these days I plan on putting up my own web site and advertise from it.#1. Reply:Do you work off of jigs?A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:A lot of yes!Dies that I make, a friend of mine helps me with Cad drawings, since I am cad illiterate! I am getting ready to start a new project for yet another collector, for one of those special parts, and I will need to make yet another bending jig for a small part that is just a piece of the whole, for a very tight U shaped bracket!Once I make everything needed for something new, I add it to my list of can do parts.#1. Reply:That is neat stuff you build. I never thought about needing to offset a moldboard plow on a garden tractor before. After looking at your pictures I can see why it is needed.
Reply:Thanks Oldtimer! We use mostly 12" moldboard plows, especially during one of the plow days events, that old Brinly in the picture is an old 8" that I restored, it doesn't get used to plow with. When we run, we will usually set the depth about 6" deep for the plow to run, and once you get that first pass in, you drop your right side tires down in the furrow, with that 6" drop, if you didn't tilt your plow to offset it, the landside would be running higher than the heal of the moldboard and making it very difficult to keep the plow running straight or upright for that matter!#1.
