Help with my mig

Hey I have a snap-on welder that's more then likely as old as I am. But it's been a rear welder and I love the thing. But now I'm having an issue with it, it welding like it's not getting enough shielding gas... The ball on my regulator is jumping like it should, and I can hear gas coming out of the tip but it's not much. Not as much as it should be. The regulator is pretty old so I don't know if I should just replace it. The solenoid was replaced a few years ago.. I guess it could be it. Any ideas?? I can't afford to pay someone to fix it for me. What ya think?Ryan
Reply:O rings, gas lines, shielding cup diffuser is worn out . tape the tip up and start searchin for leaks. does it have rubber lines on the solenoid ? how about the gun, anything been dropped on the lead? got another regulator to see if its the problem ?I forgot how to change this.
Reply:Yeah it has rubber lines all the way thru and they are all no more then a year old. Sheildcup may be worn. I'll try to tape the tip and see what happens I have got a new reg. Yet. I don't know if anything was dropped on the lead.
Reply:how do you know how much the gas should be coming out the end?  are you getting porosity?  are you sure it is from lack of shielding gas?  have you done a soap test on the line?
Reply:Yeah I know how much gas should be coming out. I'm just getting alot of contaminated welds. I can only hear the gas if I have my hand wrapped around the tip and hold to my ear up to it that's what makes me think it's the reg. gas is getting thru just not enough....but the ball is jumping all the way up. Iv been using this welder for 10years and never had a proplem. It's all I'll use besides my tig. Thanks for the helpRyan

Reply:That I don't know my reg. Doesn't have a gauge for that. Iv always found if the ball on the reg. hits the top when I open the tank then I have plenty of gas left. And it's doing that now
Reply:I put a new reg. in it it seemed to help. I'm going to get a new tank and try the too. Im thinking of replacing the defuser bc it kinda loose were the tip screws in. Thanks for the helpRyan
