We have an ongoing issue with an automated seam welder that wears out bottom electrodes too fast. A black carbon build up on the bottom electrode accumulates very quickly (after only a few hundred welds). Numorous fixes have been attemptewd with few improvements. Any suggestions you guys might have would be great -- DJC
Reply:First, welcome to the forum. Secondly, if you plan to hang around a bit, I would suggest asking the admins to change your name. Listing out your e-mail like that will surely get you a ton of spam and unwanted solicitations. Finally, your issue could be several things. Are you talking about a spot welder? It could have the incorrect electrode. It could be getting the incorrect voltage to the unit. Perhaps some flux on the active electrodes would help with fusion and eliminate the carbon. I'm not a spot welder expert but off the top of my head, those make the most sense.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Ah - almost forgot, have you attempted to call the manufacturer of the unit? That would be the best starting point. The only reason I ask is that sometimes the easy answers get overlooked...hope that helps. John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:What welding process, shielding gas, and base metal? |
