I thought that everything has come though the shop doors until today.. Some kind of motorized parasail needed two custom brackets to hold a gps and hand radio. So I fabbed them up. These things retail for about 36k... Ouch. Looks like fun. Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:motorized parasail isn't the actual name of it... I forget what he told me it was.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Those ultralights scare me to death. Nice custom job. Bending the pipe gives it a built in look, not cobbled together (like I'd probably do)"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Did you use aluminum or steel to make the brackets. Those ultralights scare me to death That type of parasail is probably the safest way to fly, they are in the air at about 15 to 20 mph and if the engine was to die for some reason you just glide back down and land just like a parachute. There are a couple guys I work with that have them and they have lots of fun flying with the birds.https://My Youtube Channel
Reply:They are aluminum. He is going to powdercoat them to the same color as the frame. He said it cruises at about 30 mph.. I think he said it weighs in at over 400 pounds where as his other one is just over 200. I guess they are good for 10,000 feet.. That's way too far up there for me.-MikeCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:Brainfarth,Nice job on the mounts. (I built rag and tube frames and modifications for years using OA and now I am kicking myself for not learning to tig way back when for the Aluminum and thin metal brackets and tabs I built and riveted together and or burned up 6" in all directions!I dumped sky divers out of perfectly good airplanes and even wore a chute or two doing aerobatics but I have always swore that unless the darn wings broke off I was not getting out!! Those dang chutes are not even very comfortable to sit on! If those tree huggers ever rode around in plane around WA, OR, ID, AK they would realize there is enough timber out there to build everyone in the US a log house with a wood deck!!===where did I get off on that!TimA rich man is not the one who has the most but instead one who needs theleast.
