First welding project ... not a cart!

Welder: Chicago Electric 90-amp fluxcore wirefeed, .030 wire.From this:.........to this:Made a minor mistake while welding - the "petals" are more the shape of tulip petals, and not rose petals, but I was using what I had available.  Ah wel,, I'll just buildanother the right way ...... Reply:I've been raiding some of the local thrift shops, like Goodwill and the Salvation Army, for their supply of flatware.  Those used to be tablespoons (amusing, the restaurant we went to had the same flatware!), and the stem is actually the top bar from one of those hanging file folder racks.  The whole thing weighs about a pound, and I gave it a good going-over with my dremel wire cup and wire wheel.  I know you can't see the welds very well - for some reason, I can't get my camera to shoot tight close-ups - but I added a little extra slag, then ground it down so that the transition from the petals to the stem would look more natural and organic, like they were really growing out of the stem.  Teaspoons next time ......Last edited by SpyGuy; 04-16-2009 at 02:17 AM.
