Been building up a lot of pricey parts for my chopper project,so I'm improving security  Attached ImagesVictor SuperRanger O/A                                         Solar migLincoln Powermig 140Southbend 9in lathe350# kohlswa anvilMiller Maxstar 150 stl etc....
Reply:I had some 1/2sq rod 41 inches long that i forged a point on and shaped over my anvil  .Then i forged points on some 3/8rd bar and shaped and cut to size. Using a magnet and vise grips i tigged the points on the sq bar.Last edited by David R; 11-11-2007 at 07:37 AM.Reason: Fixed picturesVictor SuperRanger O/A                                         Solar migLincoln Powermig 140Southbend 9in lathe350# kohlswa anvilMiller Maxstar 150 stl etc....

Reply:I use a one burner, propane fueled farriers forge to heat the metal to an orange heat then twist. The same could be done with oxy-acet using a rosebud tip Victor SuperRanger O/A                                         Solar migLincoln Powermig 140Southbend 9in lathe350# kohlswa anvilMiller Maxstar 150 stl etc....

Reply:If I did that here in Detroit, and someone got snaged in it, I'd be sued into the poor house. just a week or so ago some guy broke into someones house, got bit by the dog, now the guy is suing the home owner, and the sad part is that he will probably win.If I Can't Weld It!-----It Can't Be Welded!
Reply:Is this really the case:Good thing you don't live in California. You would get sued for potential injury.
Reply:I personaly think that when you are commiting a crime you should forfit your right to sue. JMO  and yes in Cali you get sued over stupid stuff like that.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]weekend metal melter and all around pain
Reply:I agree that if you are committing a crime that you lose your rights. Thats what is wrong with our judicial system, the criminal has more rights than the victim. Just like the lady that sued McDonald's over the hot coffee that she spilled in her lap. The Judge should have told McDonald's to lower the temp, and made the lady wear a sign stating not to give her coffee because she didn't know HOT coffee was supposed to be hot regardless as to how hot it actually was. We suffer because of BS court cases like this and these cases waste time that should be devoted to real judicial business.Sorry for the rant but this BS burns my butt.Originally Posted by scott brunsdonIs this really the case:Just curious.(Great looking fence, too.)Scott

Reply:I think the topmost 6013 weld looks allright. The one lower down is a little cold.  I imagine you kept cranking the amps up until you got an acceptable bead.  It's sometimes a PITA when joining a thicker to a thinner section.  The thick section acts like a heat sink, and chills your weld. The thickness you welded should run at around 135amps.  Even at the higher amps, 6013 seems to have a tendancy to pile up and make a convex bead.  Doesn't make it a bad weld though.MEAN LOOKIN' BARRIER"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
