This cart was made up from old bed frames and other odd pieces from the pile. Bottom shelf is 14 Ga. and upper is 18 Ga. The rings for the bottle mounting were made up with the help of a H/F ring roller that followed me home. Really enjoy this forum, have learned much from being a long time lurker. Thank-you to everyone. Attached Images
Reply:Looks like you put some thought into the tank mounting and all. Good work. I 'spose the few bolts will be forgivable.

Reply:i've got a frame off a sleeper sofa i git after they burned woods, and all the material burned off.  it's good free metal, but boy it's a pain in the butt to get off al the little rivets and what nots holdin it together.  it' s not all that bad i'm just thinkin all the time how much easier it would be to buy it, who wants to spend money though
Reply:Good job, eh.    The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...

Reply:I have picked up lotz of bed frames over the years. It's amazing the many uses there are for light weight angle. Shelving for the garage has always been a big one with me. I incorporate them into various pieces for smokers and BBQ's. Planters, steps and a porch for the back door of trailer homes. I could go on. You have obviously found a use I hadn't. Good looking project. Should last you a long time.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:Why is it that everybody loves bed frames so much?  I understand free=good, but free also = prep.  That lightweight angle is so cheap, and new requires almost zero prep, I just don't see any advantage to the bed frames.  Customers bring me lot's of material for using on thier stuff.  Usually it is rusty and covered in cow ****.  I always tell them the same thing.....by the time they pay me to clean the stuff up, they could have bought new and had the job done quicker.  The only thing rusty "free" material does is put money in my pocket,  either way the bill ends up about the same for them.

Reply:On something like a welding cart, I wouldn't do anything other than cut and fit new stuff.  Bed frames are usually painted and have several holes to work around.  We are only talking about like a $15 length of angle here,  no holes or paint on the new stuff.  Or rust where my stuff comes from.

Reply:Great cart!  I'm a fan of bedframes also - just don't try to drill or cut that stuff w/ HS steel.  I have made BBQ grilles for friends from it and recently put together for pulling rear diffs that allows rolling it out from under the car.  I haven't tried TIG on bedframe but MIG works great.
