I am having trouble when capping with 3/16 rods specially on 3oclock and down if any body could give any pointers.
Reply:What kinda machine You using. If you can lower your ocv's it may help. Remember rod angle is critical especially with bigger electrodes. Around 3 o'clock I kinda keep the rod pointed up at a slight angle. Remember gravity will try to fight your big ol puddle. A slight whipping action may also help
Reply:what size/wall are you workin on??
Reply:I can't say I would whip while laying a cap. What amperage are you using? Is the quarter 3-6 giving you problems or is it the whole 3-9 that is killing you. You will need to provide more info for those that can help will help.
Reply:What has always helped me, is pulling your arc length out a little, and essentially "spraying" the metal on. I know this isnt spray by any means, but when you long arc, it pulls the tip of your rod away from the puddle, and it won't snuff your rod out. Also, if you pick up your pace a little bit, it should also help.Oh, and practice, practice, practice.
Reply:Hey guys thanks for all the good pointers I will try them all
