Those of you who saw my intro thread may have seen the hot rod im building, well, we started on the exhaust, and i ordered some Sanderson headers, but, as luck (and every single hotrodder ever) would have it, the pipes were cut for a small block chevy, and didnt line up worth of a horses hind quarters... so we made some bitchen' zoomiesmocking it upAs Mike, my mentor of sorts reccommended, i got some fat MIG tacks on the back, and the head side of the flange is Tig welded with 1/16ths Silicone Bronze rod. I did it in 8 steps, One side on each primary, then the other, then top, then bottom, then each corner... Probably didnt have to, but i didnt want to risk warping the flangeNot the best pictures, but i still have to grind/ port a little bit to match the gigantic exhaust ports on the heads =/does WW approve?
Reply:The zoomies look pretty cool. Baffles??For my bike work I have a large (but dwindling) supply of mandrel bends that I got years ago when I worked for SuperTrapp/Kerker. If I need something I don't have, I get it from Burns Stainless.http://www.burnsstainless.com/index.htmThis is the cat-back set up I made for my Triumph Tiger.Cut and tacked. All done.Rex
Reply:niceno it wont have baffles, definately looking at some violations, but we will figure that out when we get there...
Reply:What is the flange and header material??Silicone Bronze filler???Looks like plain'ol stainless to me..Could be cold rolled but who knows..You really should have stuck to what the base metal is..Silicone Bronze filler?By the way..Good engine choice.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I believe its cold rolled, no special stuff hereMike said it would be helpful as it would resist cracking when subjected to vibrations (i trust him, hes building a bitchen 1500 hp dragster, so i believe his input, lolthanks, i honestly cant stand chevy engines in ford cars... |
