I did these for my fishing buddy brother-in-law when he moved to a lake several years ago. They are all cut from 1/4" plate with a Victor torch using a 00 tip. A circle cutting attachment was used for the circles but everything else was done freehand. The rays of the Zia sunsigns are flat bar and welded on.The first is " the man in the maze" or "IItoi", a mythical figure from the Tahoona O'odam (Papago) indian culture and represents his life. It "floats" an inch out from the wall.Theses two are just depictions of southwestern art. This is an old washpot that was in three pieces that I brazed back together and a prickley pear cactus made from old horse shoes.

Reply:Very nice work Oldtimer. I don't have any artwork around for the obvious = I can't do it.
Reply:Great stuff, OldTimer.  You in Arizona or New Mexico?Man, and all done with a gas axe .....
Reply:Nice work, I love it when I see someone doing as good or better with torch than a plasma. Don't get me wrong, if I had a plasma arc I'd use it. Good torch work is becoming a thing of the past. I showed a kid the other day how to cut a nut off of a bolt so you could reuse the bolt. He was flabbergasted and I don't do it often enough to keep the hand I used to have. Seeing these I think I'll have to get into some silhouettes myself. Thanks for sharing. Reply:I'm over in the southeast corner of New Mexico, Spyguy. It's definately a thing of the past for me, gizzardgutz. I used to have very steady hands but no more. I've busted lots of collars off pipe, cut bearings off shafts, valves out of pumps, and lots of other tricky things with the old Victor without dinging anything but not now. Some time I can hardly write my name, other times I'm fine. I just never know when my hands are going to start shaking.Hillco, I just brazed up a crack and let it cool off laying in the hot summer sun. Then I did another and let it cool, and then the last one. It was about 105 degrees that day so it didn't really get cool until after sundown. Yes, it's cast iron.
Reply:Wow, way cool!

Reply:That looks good OT. I have people all the time that can;t believe when you use a torch well. I still know people better though.
Reply:Reason why I asked was because of the New Mexico sunburst on your patterns, and the Man in the Maze symbol looks like one of the city symbols as you're running up Loop 101 around the Phoenix area.  (Tucson for me ....) Still awesome work - on a good day, I bet you're hell on wheels with that torch. If your hands get to shaking too much, I hear a good shot or two of J-D calms things right down .....
Reply:Nicely done... Just keep on doing it... doesn't matter if old man time grabs you with the shakes or not....that's how I get weave beads  maniak
