What is the differance in the cheap gas lens and the higher price gas lens and is it enough to make a differance in the weld. Never used a gas lens before so this is new territory to me, any advice is greatly appreciated

Reply:I can't think of anything my cheapie gas lens wasn't able to do, so I can't see any justification on a higher priced version.
Reply:the pink (alumina) or gray (lava) part is the nozzle.the brass part is the gas lens, ain't no such thing as a 'filter lens'.lava nozzles are for high heat applications.tungestion must be what happens if you eat too many EWTh2%'s.

Reply:The alumina lenses are injection molded and mass produced. The lava lenses are machined on a lathe, so they're more expensive. Here's a little primer on nozzles and collets and gas lenses...http://www.thefabricator.com/ArcWeld...le.cfm?ID=1446In the case of gas lenses, I have seen some cheaper ones that don't offer the same coherent gas flow due to the fact that the screens inside aren't spaced properly. I've also seen ones that haven't been brazed and in fact fall apart.-----------------------Carmen Electrodewww.CarmenElectrode.comand the boss blogs at www.JoeWelder.comall powered by www.Arc-Zone.com |
