This fine peice of art has just been erected in my local villege, Made by one the residents,Erected on the spot where the blacksmiths shop used to be in years gone by. Really nice to see something made from relevant materials to the subject. Would a big chunk of lumber or stump do the job, or can I make one out of a steel frame and wood pad? Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks ahead of time.City of L.A. Reply:If the anvil is out on dirt the stand can be a metal stand but on a slab you would want it to be wood. Mine is on a Liveoak stump. I've made several metal stands for local farriers as they preferr them to wood.
