Check out the test dates on this one.First in 1920, I believe that makes it about a '10 or '15 build date.Notice the obliterated swastika?Looks like he dropped out for the seventies!Attachment 13367Last edited by denrep; 10-19-2010 at 11:20 PM.

Reply:Last tank I got had a 1915 date on it and a hundred more stamps since then.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:mutli thousand pound cylinder explosions aren't much fun. poof!
Reply:A few more stamps and it will go poof! all by itself.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:All high pressure cylinders have to be tested either 5 or 10 years. It all depends on the expansion and contraction of the cyl. walls. They are tested to 1 1/2 times the working pressure. ICC 2015, 2265 and 2400 are the three most popular and can be pumped to a 10% ooverfill if they meet all the test. Have tested many thousand. Reply:Most hydrotesting machines are in concrete. It is a large cylinder filled with water and the cylinder is lowered, without the valve, into the tank or cylinder and filled with water, also. it is capped off and pumbed up to the testing pressure and released so both readings can be recorded. Yes some have exploded. Normally when they do not meet the pressure test, they will be put into CO2 service or taken out of service and cut up for scrap. Reply:Couldn't they be used for low pressure acetylene or a liquid gas fuel?
Reply:Possible for LPG but not for Acetylene. We can discuss acetylene whenever you want to, but not tonight. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :

Reply:Acetylene being asorbed into acetone is the reason it can only be used at 15#'s PSIG. It becomes unstable and could explode. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:I know about acetylene storage but a filler could be added. either way they could make decent backup air storage for your air compressor.
Reply:We were just talking about this at my LWS today. Oldest he had was a 1920 Linde that had US Army stamped in it. Mine was a 1938 Linde. .....swastikas on both.
Reply:You can tell that the tester is starting to weaken. He's been hitting the stamp a little lighter each time, since '41.
Reply:You guys got me curious. Went into the garage to check...2/23 and 12/68...no swastikas.Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
