Was trying to get some ideas on how to make a set of lead wraps for my welder. It's a bobcat 250 if anyone needs to know. I like the one's tidweld builds but and yes they put a tear in my when I look at them. But for the guy with limited funds I would appreciate it if anyone could post some pics of there's or if anyone has a set for sale reasonbly. Spool up style or just regular lead wraps. Thanks!Miller Bobcat 250Westinghouse ac arc welderIts better to be hated for who you are than liked for who your not.
Reply:these work for me. Attached Images
Reply:I like the pivoting bracket.  Maybe two spacesaver rims from the junk yard would be less work.  Just bolt them up to the swing arm.  Nice, neat and easy to install.  Bob
Reply:Funny, I was making these for my skid yesterday. But before I was finished and took pics, somebody REALLY pi$$ed in my wheaties, and ruined the rest of my Saturday. I will post them this week."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:From experience....  Leads rolled up real tightly, or rolled up on spools, get hot!!!!!  Especially if you weld with some heat.  Guys with lead spools on the pipelines when on larger pipe to save their leads, will un-spool them and lay them out on their truck bed during the day.  Spooled up they get hot quick man when using 3/16" on big pipe.A loose wrap helps the leads to cool. Now days, with the junk price of copper being as high as it is, the most popular idea is a lockable lead well.  That way it takes more than a lazy thief to get them.  I've seen leads cut off with bolt cutters and gone in less than a minute.  Now thats a hit on the old wallet. good luck
Reply:This is what I use on my welding trailer. Just some 3/4" tubing welded in 90* pieces and spaced apart from each other.Did the same thing for the hose wraps for the torch
Reply:I would never leave my leads out.   They would be stolen in no time.  I lock em in a box in 25' lengths.  I never know what I am doing, so I have a variety including a small electrode holder on #1 cable.  I like what weldbead did, down dirty and done.DavidEdit, A rule my son and I have is build the cart/trailer with the machine its for.Last edited by David R; 11-07-2011 at 05:47 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
