finally got a TIG rig!! bought an everlast super200P for a good deal and once i got the tungsten and all, i played a bit tonight with it. couldn't afford to buy filler rod!! haha.. tungsten wiped me out.. i cheated a bit with some deslagged 7018 and 6010 but it wasn't all that great. just worked on my hand motion and machine settings and what they did.. how they affected penetration and bead appearance. good times! played with walking the cup on that bottom bead. that was all autogenous..as is the aluminum. the cuts came from playing with the plasma cutter the other day.. not from too much heat!! tho i did cook it a lil til i got the thing dialed in. any comments and critiqing are always welcomed! pretty new to TIG so i need to work on my torch control a bit and get some kinks out. i've done some aluminum stuff before, but never really got to play around at my own leisure.100% argon, 3/16" 2% thoriated. machine on the carbon steel was straight DC at maybe 100-150A max. using foot pedal. al is some unknown sheet i had left over from God knows what. probably 6061 T6511.. still 2% thoriated, 100% argon, foot pedal to 100A, probably about 30% AC balance. i played with that and found it gets crazy with it cranked up. hard to control and make pretty. hahaLast edited by whitehendrix!; 08-11-2009 at 01:05 AM.http://kawispeed.com/ -moderator and tech deluxewww.myspace.com/trickortrack -cuz i have no life

Reply:its the best. i love the fact that i cut my header open and welded it back together with one machine..haha it looks like crap tho cuz i really need to work on my hand control and parameter magic. huge learning curve.. straight DC Vs pulsed.. stuff liek that. got some more gas and rod to burn thru! oh.. the header is off my bike. it's lowered and the thing tends to hit stuff like speedbumps. previous owner musta did that one. it was #3 pips.. probably 30% closed. not any more and had a crack in #4 header in the radius. not any more i'll get some more pics up as i get a little better.http://kawispeed.com/ -moderator and tech deluxewww.myspace.com/trickortrack -cuz i have no life
