I saw this at HD yesterday and happened to have my camera with me.  I thought you guys might enjoy it.There is alot of 5/8" OSB in that little trailer and when they got it loaded, the tires were sitting on the rims.  The rental dept. had mercy on him and brought out a compressor and filled them up.Reece

Reply:Now hold on a sec, look real close.  It looks to me like the tire on the right side is the spare and the one on the front of the trailer should be on the right side.  They look like different size tires to me.

Reply:I bet that trailer looked that way before the load as well. Reply:I noticed a roof rack on the truck and tail light wires hangin on the trailer too.Stuff like this just pisses me off.  Guys get away with this ****, and I can't even get my damn trailer inspected so I can use it. Attached Images
Reply:A couple of tungsten blocks in the back of the trailer and he's ready for the car show. Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Nice lashing job with the webbing keepers too, look at the sheets on the left, how the last one is angled out to meet the others but the ones behind it are near vertical. Just run the webbing under the lip of the angle iron frame, bottom out the load getting out of the HD carpark, bottoms of sheets slide to the middle, hey presto loose load binder.Maybe later they lowered the pressures in the truck rears to try to level it some more...As Toolman said, boat ramps and free trailer building supplies and the local refuse dump when the weekend warriors dust off their trailers to get rid of all the trimmings."One of the things we have to be thankful for is that we don't get as much government as we pay for." Reply:I'd give 10:1 odds the tires are from PO-BOYS used & tortured tires.   I can just hear it now  "It's just a little utility trailer anything 14" that will hold air will do".No doubt a passenger car tire that has a load rating of about 700-1000 # 35# maximum inflation. In my area I see this SH** all the time. There are many people around here that haul  water.  It's pretty common to see small single axle trailers designed to haul a couple ATVs or a lawn tractor.   They'll have a 400 Gal poly tank with a single 2" load binder strap across the top.  Running like the wind using a S-10 Chevy or Ford Ranger or even smaller vehicles towing them.400 Gal of water !! lets see that's 3336# of water + 300-500# of trailer with no brakes.   This is West Virginia, you can't drive 15 miles in any direction without crossing a mountain. That is unless you are driving along a river valley somewhere.   Good Lord a single 16" 10 ply truck tire is is only rated for 2600# & that's with 80 # of air pressure.IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT2 Lincoln CV-300 / LN-7 GMALinde-VI 253,400 & 450 w/MIG35 feedersCNC Table with Oxweld O/A & Hypertherm 1250G3Lincoln Ranger GXT 250Hobart-MicroWire 300ESAB Heliarc 161ESAB-Mobilemaster 2 CC/CV Feeders& more

Reply:Pictures like these are priceless, especially when sitting in the background is the "right tool for the job". I see for $537 a larger single axle trailer with probably twice the hauling capacity of the one he's using. Then there is another trailer lined up behind that one. If only HD would take trade ins
Reply:If he were to blow a tire and wipe out a family on the way home it would be HD's fault and he would end up rich."They should have known not to overload my trailer"
Reply:Seeing this post reminded me of this old story.  I worked at HD in Oklahoma when this happened.  We had a store meeting on Sunday morning discussing the the importance of the waivers, you would not believe how many people come in and say "just throw that pallet on the back, my 1/2 ton will hold it."This picture is real - not doctored in any way - and was taken by a Transportation Supervisor for a company that delivers building materials for 84 Lumber. When he saw it in the parking lot of IHOP, he went to buy a camera to take pictures. The car is still running, as can be witnessed by the exhaust. A woman is either asleep or otherwise out in the front seat passenger side. The driver was jogging up and down on Rt. 925.(in the background) Witnesses said their physical/mental state was OTHER than normal. The driver finally came back after the police were called, and was found crouched behind the rear of the car, attempting to cut the twine around the load! Luckily, the police stopped him and had the load removed. The materials were loaded at Home Depot. Their store manager said they made the customer sign a waiver. While the plywood and 2X4s are fairly obvious, what you can t see is the back seat, which contains -- are you ready for this? --10 bags of concrete @ 80 lbs. each. They estimated the load weight at 3000 lbs. Both back tires exploded, the wheels bent and the back shocks were driven throughthe floorboard.
Reply:Jay T I remember seeing that pict at work also years ago when I worked at a different home center. Lets see a few goodies I remember...Customer wanted 8 6x6 10' long railroad ties loaded on top of his brand new Jaguar XJ6 with the sticker still in the indow. Ah NO!Customer loaded 1 pallet of brick by hand into his Ranger. Snapped the axle as he left the parking lot. We wouldn't load him, but did help to unload him.Customer tied 12  sheets of 4x8 5/8" drywall on top of the roof rack of his new Taurus station wagon. Didn't even get the ropes on it before the rack snapped and punched 4 holes in his roof. We helped him UNLOAD it.Customer borrowed a trailer from a friend to move block. 2 5/16" hitch on a 2" ball. Leaving the lot the trailer popped off the ball and smashed into the back of his SUV. Then took off after straighening the chains and hit 2 new cars in the lot across the street.Like you we wanted signed waivers, preferably signed at the front desk where we had video coverage to back it up.Best one was a lady who showed up wanting 3 pallets of roof shingles loaded into her truck. Each pallet weighs 2 ton+. We all went out to see the good laugh as the 1st pallet sank the tuck to the springs. She pulls up to get loaded in a Kenworth triaxle. One of the few times someone actually showed up with a decent sized vehicle for the load..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:DSW, you are really starting to bring back the memories.  Nothing as exciting as yours but here are a couple more.Guy bought a waterheater and strapped the box to the top of his Mercedes, brought it back two hours later, without the box, covered in mud, stating that we sold him a waterheater that someone plugged up.Customer bought a drop in shower and asked us to load on top of their S-10 blazer, we refused and he refused the waiver, he got another customer to help load it.  He tied it down with the twine and cracked the corners out when he flew over the first speed bump. When I went from wearing an orange apron to a red vest a guy buys a lawnmower with part of his stimilus check.  He calls me and tells me that we sold him a defective lawnmower, that it only ran about 5 minutes before it locked up.  I asked him if he put the oil in it.  He told me that he did not recieve anything from Lowes that told him to put the oil in the unit.  I asked him what the tag on the gas tank said, and what the first line on page one of the owners manual said.  He still argued with me until he figured out  that I was not going to take it back.  About an hour later I got a call from the returns desk asking me to look at a return lawnmower.  He put the oil in and sent his wife up to return it.  I asked her if I had talked to her husband earlier about the lawnmower.  When she refused to answer, I told her to take the mower back to her husband.I can't remember how many grills and refridgerators people tried to return because they didn't tie them correctly and their merchandise ended up on the highway.I can't remember any others right now but if I do I will be sure to post them

Reply:This guy too.  Took a load of scrap to the yard earlier this year.  As I was leaving, this guy pulls in.  Sorry the picture quality isn't too good.  From my old cell phone. Attached ImagesThat's normal for a scrap yard.  I spent 3 1/2 yrs working maintenance at one.   Our shop was right across from the scale so I got to see lot's of brilliant people and their well thought out loads.
Reply:Agree with the questionable tire issues, load tiedown method, hitch angle and lack of lighting, but fundamentally, are we sure the trailer is theoretically overloaded?Seems most trailers I've seen are rated at least 2000 pounds gross.  I don't know what 5/8" OSB weighs per sheet off the top of my head, what, maybe 40 lbs?  Looks like he's got maybe a dozen, let's say 15, that's only 600 lbs payload.  Even at 50 lbs each, only 750 lbs payloadGranted, we don't know what's in the bed between the OSB sheets.Am I missing something here?
Reply:I'd bet you're lookin at closer to 18-20 sheets at 60-80lbs each. Maybe 1500-1600 lbs of payload + trailer weight.  So he may not technically be overloaded, but he sure as hell shouldn't be pulling that down the road.
