I had a trailer to finish up today.  Some one was asking about out of positoin with -11 wire.  I said I would post a few pics.  As usual, I got carried away. Here are the materials.  50 pieces all numbered where to go.Here is where they all go.  All out of positionHere is the equipment, Ranger 250, 100' remote and LN-25Here is the first piece.  I did it vertical up.  Not so good, puts too much heat into the work and takes too long, so the rest I did down. Here is one finished.Last edited by David R; 11-13-2007 at 09:33 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:not bad... i guess i have quite a bit of work to do in order to match that. if i remember correctly, my LE 100HD runs with NR211MP 0.035". i guess i need to figure out how to reduce spatter. the excesive amount that i get on a regular basis... i thought that was normal. oh well... back to the welding table... hehehehe later,Andy
Reply:That stuff will throw a lot of slag, won't it.  I did a trailer end protector with NR-211...and got three second degree burns for my troubles.  I had a huge BB burn into my shirt sleeve, but it couldn't burn back out because my shirt was soaked with sweat...so it burned me instead.  I was all wrapped around the rear axles, so a quick escape wasn't gonna happen. Got good at dancing under trailers that day.
Reply:How thick were those cut-outs?? 3/16ths? Good work . Thanks for the pics. Rolling around on gravel doesn't always do the body good either.
Reply:Thanks for the pics.Have you tried any of the NR-212?
Reply:211 is my friendDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:DDA52, I have a bracelet around my ankles of burns.  For the other half of the job I will wear taller boots.  Its hard to keep a consistent bead while getting burned.Sandy, I think its 1/8" according to my calibrated fingers.    The cross members in the trailer are thinner yet. I will measure one when I go back to finish the job.   Yeah, its hard on the body to sit under there for hours.  I used a 6x6 to sit on.  This put me at the right height so I didn't hit my head and could still reach the top of the plates.Opie, never used NR-212.  I have used NR-233 (T8) and that stuff is a bitch to run vertical up.  It took me about 10 lbs of .068 wire before I could do it good enough for a job.  The NR211 seems to be close to 6013 if I had to compare it.Tozzi, the more I use it, the more I like it.I was a little surprised at how well the 1/16 wire worked on the small stuff.  I was at 60 ipm and 17.something volts.  I can go down to 40 ipm and 15 volts according to the factory sheet.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Looks good man...However 1/16 is a little too much for less than 1/8 ain´t it? bah... a good welder can weld everything with everything  (seen a guy weld with 225 amps and a 6013 stick 1/16 tubing, tack weld of course)My Babies: HF Drill pressHF Pipe Bender3   4.5" Black and Decker angle grindersLincoln Electric PROMIG 175that´s it!
