Is there a thread that shows pictures of what welders you guys have in your home/shop(something similar to what computers/mobile phones threads I've seen on other forums). I don't have a welder yet but working on it and will post pics when that happens.

Reply:here's a few pictures from around the shop. got a few different things in here.with a little time and patience, you can make a rig look like whatever you want. the sky is the limit with metal.the red machine is from another school, im trying to fix it. its having a slight feed problem where it will feed for about half a second and then it will quit feeding wire. havnt had a chance to get to it yet. behind that in the blue are some old dial-arc 250AC/DC's, great machines that never give out and in the back corner a max 40cs plasma cutter. its on its last leg.here is our Hobart Ironman 250 mig, great machine always runs way too hot. can do 3/8" with a single pass and enought wrist motion. behind the green beam is our Miller Shopmaster 300AC/DC mounted on a boom with a remote mig unit. great machine if the rectifier wasnt on the fritz.ill see if i can get a few other pics.I break things for a living...

I started with an old buzz box my father had and then moved to a Lincoln AC225 buzz box that I got at an auction brand new for $75. Right now I have my Hobart 180 mig unit and my Miller Maxstar 140 and I still have the AC225 at my brothers house which I need to go get before he tosses it out. Reply:I had always wanted to weld alum. When I found this one came with a free stick welder, the decision was easy (although expensive ). The Sync 250 was quite a step up from O/A.  I added the shelves and running gear. Reply:Ok, here's the ones at work:Old faithful, Syncrowave 350, gets used the most, the Big Daddy, Syncrowave 500, for when you just can't have too much AC aluminum power and the baby, the XMT350 inverter, with the XR Control, XR Edge gun and the Optima Pulse Control. Reply:Yea, it's an animal! HW18 torch, gas lens collet and a #7 cup, you better double up on the gloves before you get too crazy with the amperage! That and you better have some serious input current available. It's rated for 180 AMP input current at 230 volts. Reply:Just added one more. Thunderbolt AC/DC. I bought it new in 1992 at a Miller roadshow sale for $280. Sold the whole rig in the picture (Millermatic 130, Thunderbolt and home made cart) to a buddy that was moving to Tennessee. He took it with him and covered it up in a barn, never to be used for 2 years. I bought it back, slightly discounted, when he decided Tennessee was not for him. Another friend wanted the Thunderbolt, so I again sold it for a real good price, with the understanding I would get dibs on it if he were to not need it anymore. Fast forward a year, and domestic issues with my friend and his wife gave me the opportunity to get it back, again unused. (The cart looked kind of empty without it!) I should have never sold them in the first place, as they have a lot of history with me, even though I have upgraded substantially over the years.
