went to the LWS here in town and looked into a Miller Dynasty 200DX... his price is fair i think, at least compared to the factory price.how many has this machine, tell me about it. seems to be right down the allie as to what i need.... is it dependable ?  should be for 2800.00any down sides to it ?MikeHH210Hobart Champ 10KLincoln Buzz BoxCampbell Hausfeld 115Victor JourneymanMilwaukee 14" Chop Saw7" Chop Saw4/12" horz band sawmetal benderother toys forthcoming.
Reply:I don't have one, YET.  Just a smaller Maxstar, plus some bigger Millers and Hobarts.  But they have excellent reputations and are on my list.Never compare anyone's price to the "factory price."  Go to some of the online retailers (most of whom also sell on eBay, so just go there) and see what brand new units sell for.
Reply:If it is at all like my Lincoln Invertec V205 than it should be a great machine.  It even has fan on demand which my Lincoln doesn't.  Only wish it had more power as it sometimes doesn't quite have enough umph when tigging larger stuff.  Also stick with my Lincoln has been a bit weird.  I don't stick often, but the machine has been a bit testy with certain rods.  Lincoln makes rods specifically for the inverter technology and this supposedly helps.  I think Miller must do the same.  One other thing that comes to mind is the machine can't be used to thaw water pipes like other transformer machines.  I would think the Lincoln and Miller are pretty much the same beast.
Reply:The Miller Dynasty will outperform the Invertec.  The only downer at all to the inverters in my point is repair costs.  When the warranty is over and the board takes a dump, it will cost a FORTUNE to replace.
Reply:figures, most things get pricey when the warranty runs out.... never thought about that, but bet it would get pricey.... but you got to pay to play, so i am going to get one.MikeHH210Hobart Champ 10KLincoln Buzz BoxCampbell Hausfeld 115Victor JourneymanMilwaukee 14" Chop Saw7" Chop Saw4/12" horz band sawmetal benderother toys forthcoming.
Reply:Used properly, a machine like that pays for itself in convenience and power many times over during the course of its warranty period, and then most still keep chugging, if you've done your part.
Reply:I have one its awesome  and hasnt given me any problems I went to lincoln welding school and used the invertec and I thought my dynsaty was far better.Last edited by WANNAWELD; 11-27-2007 at 10:58 AM.
Reply:I have 3 inverters one is a plasme cuter. I have had no trouble and I do not use any "special rods". I use 6010 6011 7014 7018 ane nd they do a great job with out eatin up a lot of power. To date this year I have run about 600# of rod and of that almost 200# through my little Maxstar 150 STH. Unless you do it for a living I do not see one dying any time soon. I have a 100% duty cycle at 100amp out of a 14# machine that can run on a 20amp outlet in any house or garage. Steel Thunder Welding LLC.
