I just recently got a hold of this new free motor, http://www.globalindustrial.ca/p/mot...rpm-c4d17nz21b would this motor be suitable to use in a down the road positioner project?
Reply:Hey r-b302,Yes, that would suffice to start. You need to get a reduction to have an adjustable rpm of 0-6rpm & have it reversable. Reply:You'll need to gear it way down, like 10:1 or more.Multiple chain/sprocket, belt/pulley or worm and spur gearbox. You will also want a variable speed d.c. drive.Last edited by jpump5; 11-25-2011 at 08:55 PM.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
Reply:Wow that sucker is expensive. I'd sell it and pay for the entire project and then some. Get a wheelchair motor from ebay and just speed control that.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
