I haven't MIG welded aluminum since I was in the Navy in 1996. Since then I've immersed myself in steel and got my field cert for Dual shield finally. However, I just got myself a weld test for Friday doing aluminum MIG for way better pay and I can't remember for the life of me what you are supposed to set your machine to. I'm going to be doing structural work building aluminum boats. So I know it will be AC high but what kind of heat should I start with? And the gas is around 20 CPH I believe.
Reply:MIG aluminum........DC+ electrode, 35 CFH of pure argon, Forehand (push) ONLY.Help?Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:You must have been remembering TIG welding with aluminum, which uses AC, electrode negative and high frequency.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
