I would like a fan for my garage.... keep me cooler in the summer and something that can crank out the smoke/dust I make while doing stuff in the garage. I was thinking about this one:http://airking.ventingdirect.com/air...nt-fan/p441388Personally, I don't want to spend that much, but I thought I would post here to see if you had any recommendations before I buy it.The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:If you have any buddies in the HVAC trade a squirrel cage puts out tons of air, might trade them a little welding for one.miller... 225g, s32p, 250x, 304, 12vs, MSW41 victor o/a thermal dynamics cutmaster 50 lenco panel spotter hobart hf-boxG3 Farms.....raising cattle, hay, kids and hell, ...oh yeah I'm a fire sprinkler contractor by trade.
Reply:G3 Farms has it right. I have two gas furnace fans both are two speed and they put out a lot of air. I can sit one in front of an open door and Completly remove all the smoke from my shop in less than five minits. I use it for when I paint or wire brush things to blow the fumes and dust away from me. and its fairly qiuiet. and they are dirt cheap. Mac
Reply:X3 on the furnace fans. I built stands for them with casters so they move around the shop easily. They displace a huge amount of air for a minimum investment. Had a guy tell me he mounts them in the wall with ducting to exhaust fumes. I suppose it would work, never tried it.GeezerPower Mig 255C185 TIGBlue 175 MIGRanger 8 Kohler 20HP1974 5K Lincoln/Wisconsin Powered (Cherry)Victor/Harris O/AK 487 Spool Gun
Reply:asside from my explosion proof fans , and as far as portable .? ive come to the conclusion whether your grinding sanding trying to exhaust the shop or just stay cool , the 20" industrial floor fans are the main stay. I've had the 30" like u hav listed , the 30" on a pedastool , 50" on wheels and the squirrel blowers like said .......but in the end 3000-5000 cfm's more than enough and the 20" is easy to pick up and move to create a side draft any where you want fast and easily. I keep two in circulation and always ready to replace one for the mere $40-60 bucks every 5 years or so. friggin cheap , efficient AND affordable!! thermal arc 252i - millermatic 350P - miller XMT, cp300ts, 30a 22a feeders, buttload of other millers, handfull of lincolns, couple of esabs - Hypertherm 1250 G3
Reply:i took the squirrel cage and motor from an 5800 cfm evaporation cooler(swamp cooler) and mounted it to blow out through the vent in the raters under the front eave of my shop. pulls the smoke and fumes up and out. it cost me under 50 bucks.225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw
Reply:I used to use a furnace fan in my shop and found the absolute best use for them as well as the above is when I had to lay under a car etc and it was hot or dirty ie grinding or scrapeing put the fan on the floor so it blows past you and it will carry most of the crap away and you got freash air . FOR the money "fan"tastic also they give you the little project of building guards "when your bored".Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few.
