Okay so dcep has the most penetration.. AC about 50/50 (cleaning and pen) and Dcen has least penetration correct?? So heres a question how come... Is it correct that negative ions create the cleaning action and positive the penetration( or vice versa) I know dcep 70% of the heat is on the rod and EN 70% is on the metal.. OKay so scientifically how come diff polarities have diff penetration?

Reply:Well I am talking about SMAW.. Im just curious as to 70% of the heat on the filler metal(dcep) pentrates better than 70% on the base metal(dcen)? Maybe its simply because 70% of the heat on the base metal is distriputed and does not allow as much penetration?
Reply:Yes in Stick and mig dcep gives max penetration. In TIG DCEN gives max penetration and DCEP gives cleaning action. --Gol'
