Tig welding round pipe

Been playing around a lot with welding ends on a 2.5" pipe (steel and aluminum). I took two pieces of angle iron and welded them together and laid the can in there and started to weld. My question is how far or long can you guys weld in that position. Seems like I can only get maybe 2 inches at a time which I'm ok with before I have to readjust the position of me and the torch, but I would also like to know how to I tie my welds together so it looks like one continuous bead and not 6 or 7 different sets?I'll post up pics later if I have time.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:learning to move around pipe is the difference between holding a plate in your lap and welding it, and bein g a pipewelder. true for stick tig or mig..its abhout starting out uncomfortable and moving towards a position of less strain..2" pipe is a bigger bitch than 8"...20" is like plate....
Reply:Are you freehanding? I have better results walking the cup on tubing, also I like to cheat by clamping a guide on one side otherwise my beads are not perfectly straight.HammerFile Big Hammer------------------------------Here, let me Google that for you...
