Building a pig cage for a cousin of mine. 6' L x 4' W x 34" H. Built to fit inside the bed of a F350. His kids are in 4H, so he's on the road buying pigs and it's easier to put them in a cage instead of having to haul a trailer. I'm using 1"x1"x3/16" angle for the framing. Pig panel for the side and cow panel for the roof. Bottom will be open and will use the truck bed for the floor. Not finished yet, but here's the progress. Also this is the first project I've built with my newly aquired (free to me) Miller Bobcat 225D. Borrowed my dad's S-32P to try out the MIG side of the Bobcat.Miller:Millermatic 252Dialarc 250Thunderbolt 225Syncrowave 180 SDSuper S-32PSCP-200CHF-15-1225D Plus225G PlusBig D2Lincoln:Arc Welder SA-200Victor:315FC setup with fullsize bottlesJ-28 setup as portable
Reply:Looks simple enough, what kind of doors are you going to use?
Reply:Those cages come in real handy. We use them to pick up lambs and goats also. It sure beats hauling a trailer for such small animals. At least they are small when we purchase them. Looks Good!AG MECH DUDE
Reply:As a city boy I've never purchased farm animals. What does a baby pig, goat, cow ect cost?
Reply:I'm going to use the same 1" angle for the door. His son shows lamb and his daughter goats, so it will be used for that as well. Overall it has so many uses, can put it on the ground for a pen outside, can head into the woods to get a wild pig that someone may have caught, etc.My cousin is headed to OK Thursday to pick up a papered sow for $250. Not sure on the other animals. It's just like anything else though, more bloodline, the more money.Miller:Millermatic 252Dialarc 250Thunderbolt 225Syncrowave 180 SDSuper S-32PSCP-200CHF-15-1225D Plus225G PlusBig D2Lincoln:Arc Welder SA-200Victor:315FC setup with fullsize bottlesJ-28 setup as portable

Reply:Nice job! Its on my list to do. Pig prices? Around me 30 to 50 for a feeder pig, Goats 50 on up, lambs about the same,no clue on cattle prices, not looking for any!
Reply:Looks real good. Just one thing. I would put a sliding door on the cage instead of a swinging door. Much easier to load and unload and get them shut in easier. Would be real easy to change and he will thank you for the mod.
Reply:might have some issues hauling water the first time or 2. Looks good that would work for storing the tools in the trucks at work.Millermatic DVIMillermatic 251Older buzz box Cheap 120 welder
Reply:I'll mention it to him about the sliding door. The one he borrowed had a swing door and that one is old as dirt and has seen many pigs through it.landman, haul water?Miller:Millermatic 252Dialarc 250Thunderbolt 225Syncrowave 180 SDSuper S-32PSCP-200CHF-15-1225D Plus225G PlusBig D2Lincoln:Arc Welder SA-200Victor:315FC setup with fullsize bottlesJ-28 setup as portable
