Hey all - I am seriously pondering picking up a TIG machine when I am done my car project... right... like thats ever done...but yeah, I thought it might be nice to have a TIG and get real good with it. I like the Econotig price and that it does AC. What are your thoughts?
Reply:As far as I know, the only complaint about the Econtig is that the amperage cannot go lower than 30 on DC. Makes it tough to weld razor blades.
Reply:I have one, it's done everything I could throw at it for the last 3 years. It's for sale if you have the cash. John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:MicroZone can you PM what you'd be looking for it?

Reply:i have one. i was welding .032 with a 1/16" tungsten, and the pedal was all the way back, almost off, and itwas still too hot. i did an adjustment inside the pedal, where icranked it back some more, and now it welds at a muchlower amperage. i have heard complaints about the econotig, but i like mine. if you plan to weld heavy stuff, you can doit on this machine, with stick. good luck.wlbrown
Reply:Good point WLbrown. When in need, switch it over to stick and do anything you want. John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Micro you have a PM
Reply:What is the max amperage on the econotig?
Reply:If you you are going with a new unit the Syncrowave 200 is only a few hundred more and a nice step up (I think) Econo TIG is ok Me!
Reply:If you step up to the Syncro 200 you might as well step up to TA. BTW Hobsrt Tigmate is the same as an Econotig. If you can find a better deal on Tigmate that's the way to go.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill |
