New old guy here, been lurking for a while. Need to pull the trigger and buy a machine tomorrow. MM180 or Linc. 180. I like the cheapo spoolgun for the Linc. a little better because tips etc. are interchangeable with the regular gun. For some reason Miller didn't do this. Miller seems to be preferred by the gang here. Can anyone give me any specifics that are problems with the Linc?I've never owned anything but Miller but I would change if the Linc. is an acceptable unit.Don't want to start a war, just need a little help! Thanks
Reply:One complaint I hear about the Linc. is with 10 lb spools....the door won't close and if I remember it is a pain to change spools out on as well......I'll post back when I find it...and also have you looked at the HH187? I know the spool gun kinda put it in the back of the pack, but if you didn't need the sg look one over....nice little 180 amp MIG

Reply:Hey Dizcoe and Welcome,Never used a MM180 or Linc. 180 personally but own two Lincolns and would not be able to tell you how good Lincolns back up , repair or service is as I have never needed to use it in 9 years of owning Lincolns....They are both used in a commercial application and that is as good as it gets .Miller is also a great brand. From what I have gleaned from friends who own Millers , from this forum and from my experience the difference between the two is whether you like a red or blue paint job.Note some individual models may be more designed to your application but comparing apples with apples I would buy either without hesitation.(Or if you are after a good welder buy an Aussie one ....*Brett runs for cover! after starting WW3*)Good luck and lets see some pics of your attempts and triumphs!BrettA good guess is better than a bad measurement
Reply:Mike,I would buy a HH210 in a heartbeat but the dealers here don't usually stock them. On this side of Canada there are two kinds of welders, pipeline and ship builders, and they all want Linc. or Miller. I need to be able to do alum once in a while but not often enough to spend large on a spoolgun. Thanks for the replies! |
